Dr Heslop was Doctor to HRH Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester and spent much
time at Osborne House. The family was based in Ryde on the Isle of Wight. He had spent some of his early married life in India and was never in good health after this. He died young after picking up an infection whilst nursing his mother in Exeter. The children (Sheila and Peter) were left with his wife and Nanny Redfern to fend for themselves. Pensions and the Welfare State didn't exist! His wife eventually remarried to a Mr Lewis-Lewis.
