The journey continued north towards Clermont-Ferrrand and the Puy-de-Dome, one of the extinct volcanoes in the Auvergne region of the Massif Central. This rises to 1,465 metres and it was possible to drive the car all the way up to the top. This was on our way to the next overnight stay near Limoges: then next stop La Rochelle.
