June 2004 to Southern Germany. 1995 Jaguar Sovereign DJS 45.

This was a trip organised by David and was supposed to be in Alvis Drophead FCO 154.

However, the rebuilt engine broke a valve spring on the way to an overnight stop after

South-West Alvis Day on Sunday and the car had to be returned home at crack of dawn on Monday

by the AA.  The TE21, ASV 196, was away having a new gearbox fitted, so the luggage had

to be swapped over to the Jaguar, followed by a hectic 320 mile dash to Harwich.

 
The Ferry crossing was an interesting experiment. It was on the "Truckers" Ferry from Harwich to the Hook of Holland. There are very few cars on this Ferry and it is much more relaxing than the normal car Ferries. All food is also included in the price. The journey was then through Holland, Belgium and Luxembourg into Germany. There were eight cars on the trip.

Tuesday 22nd June.                    Würzburg.                                   Mercure am Mainufer, Dreikronenstrasse 27.

Wednesday 23rd June.              Rüdesheim.                                The Lindenwirt, Drosselgasse.

Thursday 24th June.                    Hürth.                                           Ramada Treff, Theresienhohe/Ecke Kreuzstrasse 99.

Friday 25th June.                         On the Ferry from Hook of Holland to Harwich.
