Rolls Royce Holidays.

June 2011, sailing from Portsmouth to Caen overnight on 23rd June and returning on 4th July using the afternoon ferry. The main trip was arranged by the 20hp Register of the RREC. We went in our 1980 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II, CYT 321V. Chassis 40021.



        Thirty one Rolls Royces and two Bentleys took part in this trip, ours being the only "modern" car. The whole group met up on the first evening at the hotel, having travelled from all points of the compass. The weather was good except for a very short and violent thunderstorm on Monday 27th at Chateau L'Angoti輯span>re.


Thursday 23rd June.             Drive from North Devon to Portsmouth for overnight ferry Portsmouth to Caen.

Friday 24th June.                  Touring day ending up at the Hotel Ferme de la  Ran缯span>onni輯span>re.

Saturday 25th June.            Tour around the Suisse Normande to Falaise. Gourmet Dinner at the  hotel.

Sunday 26th June..              Visit to Honfleur, via the C쯳pan>te Fleurie (Deauville, etc). Special parking in front of the Marie.

Monday 27th June.              Tour of the Georges de la Vire, with Civic reception at Domjean and lunch at the

                                                   Chateau L'Angoti輯span>re, owned by Simon and Kate Howard (LHD French Silver Shadow II).

Tuesday 28th June.              Visit to the Haras de Bouquetot Racing Stables and Manor House owned by David

                                                    Blackburn. 400 acres of glorious France, including Health Spa and Pool.

Wednesday 29th June.        Coastal drive to the superb Gastronomique Le Panoramique  Restaurant at La Pernelle.

Thursday 30th June.              Free Day and the Mascot Competition. Farewell Gourmet Dinner in the Hotel.

Friday 1st July.                         Leave the hotel and head south for Domfront and Saint Brice (La Cocherie).

Some of the group went home and some stayed on to attend
     the Normandy Conquest Retro Festival at the Caen Hippodrome.


Saturday 2nd July.                Picnic  Lunch at the Open Day for the French Cancer Charity CSF Basse Normandie,

                                                    followed by Dinner at the wonderful  Gastronomique Restaurant Auberge de la Source

                                                    at Le Bourg, 50720 Saint Cyr du Bailleul.

Sunday 3rd July.                    Visit to Domfront for coffee, followed by a tour of the Old Town.

Monday 4th July.                  Return to North Devon on the afternoon ferry to Portsmouth.


        We clocked up a total of 1151 miles door to door: somewhat less than the Spanish trip last May. A great relaxing holiday in wonderful company.
