Marilyn and David's Wedding Anniversaries.
Twelfth, in September 2014, on the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club trip to Spain and
Mallorca in the 1976 Daimler Double Six Avon-Stevens Convertible.
In September 2014, eighteen
Jaguars and our Daimler set off for
Mallorca, being apparently the first car club ever to attempt this. The main
party sailed from Portsmouth to Bilbao early on Wednesday 3rd September on the
overnight ferry. Because of the early start, we set of on Tuesday and stayed at
the Premier Inn at Southsea. This was a good choice because the hotel has
covered parking and I was able to leave the hood down. The organisers were Simon and
Ann Cronin, with support from Travel Destinations (especially Andrew Melley). Cars ranged from XK120
to XK8s and set off from all corners of the UK. Travel Destinations had provided
a very comprehensive and excellent travel booklet for the holiday. We stayed in
Paradors whilst in Spain and at the Lindner Hotel at Portals Nous in Mallorca. The trip for
us, door to door, was 1,623 miles and the car ran faultlessly throughout.
Next for the daily log.
