Thursday 8th October: touring.
A lazy morning enjoying the pool and the wonderful sun and
warmth. After a typical US lunch at a Wendys (Hamburger chain), which wasn't
quite as I remember them years ago, we set off up the highway A1A from Delray
Beach to the top of the Palm Beach peninsular (with Riviera Beach in the
distance). The weather was fantastic glorious sun and 87 F temperatures. The
route took us past some very upmarket mansions and spectacular beautifully
clipped hedges. This was one of the rare occasions where the road was often
only single track. One of the most interesting things about driving in Florida
is that you never know where you are. Unlike in France where every tiny
village has a name sign, there is nothing but road names in Florida.
We went right up to the tip of the Palm Beach peninsular (looking out towards
Riviera Beach).
Boynton Beach.
The Palm Beach Yacht Club.
Heading back to the fast I 95 home.
