Holiday to Florida and the
Institute for Neurological Recovery at Boca Raton in October 2015.
5th to 16th October 2015.
Based at the Hilton Garden Inn Hotel, Boca
Raton.
Friday 9th, Saturday 10th October: relaxing.
The next few days were a time for unwinding and relaxing
beside the pool. On Friday we had lunch at a recommended chain called "the
Five Guys". There are lots of eating places along Linton Avenue, which is the
next major intersection East/West going North up Congress Avenue (just outside
the Hotel). What an experience! The food was served in a paper bag and
there were no plates or cutlery. We were not expecting to eat with our
fingers, although the food actually tasted quite good.
A very strange Restaurant. Lots of disabled parking spaces everywhere which
was wonderful,
although the normal parking spaces are HUGE anyway.
On Saturday we lingered even longer at the pool and were
quite late going off to lunch. This time we found a Pancake House ("The
Original Pancake House") just after
turning south from Linton onto Highway 1. All the Restaurants had very
friendly and helpful staff and our server did a wonderful large iced coffee
for David. The food was very good and worth another visit later in the
holiday. We got into the routine of being back at the hotel for afternoon tea
in our room, followed by a light supper from our supplies in the fridge. US TV
is such rubbish that, despite countless channels, we found it almost
impossible to find anything worth watching. Also, unlike our UK TV, there is
no digital program guide to find out what is on. One great bonus was free fast WiFi which allowed us to keep up with the real world and listen to English
radio.
Our large spacious room. Two double beds, kitchen area and large bathroom with
wet room shower.
