Marilyn and David's Wedding Anniversaries.

Twelfth in September 2014, on the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club trip to Spain and Mallorca in the 1976 Daimler Double Six Avon-Stevens Convertible.

Day Three, Saturday 6th September.

The drive to Barcelona docks to catch the overnight ferry to Palma, Mallorca. This was to be an extremely hot day, but glorious for driving on the virtually empty roads during the first part of the journey. We set of on the C28 and travelled through spectacular scenery over the Port de la Bonaigue pass at 2072 metres, to Sort, then Tremp and on to Ponts where we stopped for lunch. It was by now extremely hot and we appreciated the covered eating area at the restaurant. By the time we had finished our savoury pancakes, many of the group had joined us. The cars attracted lots of local interest. We slightly modified the suggested route from Ponts, so that we could stay off the motorway for as long as possible. The temperature was 36C after lunch. The final part of the journey on the motorway wasn't quite so pleasant, but we found the correct Barcelona Port entrance gate without any drama. The most challenging part was the long walk for Marilyn to get into the Terminal Building so that we could wait in the cool. There were also no catering facilities in the building. The others in the group walked into Barcelona to explore.
