Marilyn and David's Wedding Anniversaries.

Eighth, in September 2010, on the Jaguar Enthusiasts' Club

trip to Croatia in the 1976 Daimler Avon-Stevens Convertible.

We had decided that KRK needed to be thoroughly explored and the next day we set off in glorious hot sunshine, making full use of our very exotic Daimler convertible. We headed off towards KRK Town and drove through most of the town, but didn’t stop. We then set off for Punat and explored the marina area. This was an ideal spot for some lovely photos of the car! The next stop was Stara Baska and this was a most interesting experience. The scenery was spectacular and the road became narrower and narrower. We finally ended up with gates blocking the single track road. The road was all very new, not yet completed, and clearly heading somewhere up in the mountains.

The road to Stara Baska was very spectacular.

Down to Stara Baska and the dead end beyond.

There was no way through the mountains, so we had to retrace our route until we could turn off towards Baska. This was a much larger and busier town, with lots of tourists roaming around. We did one circuit, trying to find somewhere to park and found a small car park on the second time round. The fascinating thing was that every one of the ten cars in the car park was a different nationality: a most unusual experience. We found an excellent restaurant for a rather late lunch and I had the largest pizza I have ever had.  After that there was just time to explore this bustling place more extensively before setting off home to the hotel. We normally try to find a souvenir of our trips and this time found a lovely locally painted miniature to add to our collection.
