We had a very relaxing dinner on the first night, but noticed that the restaurant was rather cold. It was the middle of winter and there was no central heating or double glazing. It was also off season and we were almost the only guests for most of our stay. The staff were very friendly, helpful and attentive.

Once installed in our spacious suite, we realised that this was to be a cold stay! There was a huge gas fire in the main room as well as an electric oil filled radiator. The bathroom had a 2 bar radiant heater and heated towel rail. We also had electric blankets on the bed. The staff made sure that the fire was on, bed turned down and blankets turned on each afternoon. It was still very cold though and the towelling robes were very much appreciated.

A negative point was that WiFi was only available in the lounge and bar. Our portable internet device ran out of memory very rapidly on roaming charges and was far too expensive to use. The only solution was to spend time in the hotel lounge (no not the bar!) to catch up on all the emails and Facebook traffic.
